Community Helpers Activities
My students had so much fun learning about their community helpers this week! They also learned a lot doing these engaging activities.
1. Community Helpers Book
I started my unit on community helpers by reading this Community Helper book which is included in our Community Helpers unit.
My students took turns reading the pages. One of my students read “He builds our houses”
The rest of the class tried to guess which community helper he was reading about.
They were so excited to yell out, “builder!” You can see in the pictures above that “She likes to help me at school” would be “teacher.” The color for each community helper matches the color for their job description to help your students make stronger connections.
You can read any book that you may have on community helpers.
These were just a few comments about our books and activities:
“I love the song, booklet and the finger puppets! There are so many great things included in this bundle!”
“Awesome bundle for a great value! I just loved all the songs! You ladies are so talented! 🙂
“WOW! This bundle has so many resources and activities to use to teach community helpers. I think your songs are GREAT! Thank you.”
2. Community Helpers Song
The students sang and acted out our Community Helpers song. These kiddos are singing “Community Helpers are always standing by.” We discussed how our community helpers are always standing by, ready to help us.
This little guy was having fun doing the last part of the song with his air guitar.

4. Follow Up Community Helpers Worksheets
My class loved dressing up and they had no trouble doing our community helpers sheets after singing the song and having our community helper visuals.

5. Community Helper Class Book
My students made a class book about what community helper they wanted to be when they grew up. Don’t you just love what kids write?
You can purchase it and check out the reviews on TeachersPayteachers.
This bundle was featured in the TeachersPayTeachers Newsletter!

Thanks Laura! I have a large population of ELL students so I am always trying to think of ways that are more engaging and will give my students more visual and kinesthetic learning.
Thank you for your comments!
We hope you will stop by next Friday!
