St. Patrick’s Day Books
I love reading these St.Patrick’s Day books to my students. They are all under $10 so they are very affordable. They are also Prime, so if you are a Prime member then you can get them in a day or two.
Pete the Cat The Great Leprechaun Chase
Pete the Cat The Great leprechaun Chase is a funny book about Pete the Cat setting up a Leprechaun catching business. Of course, all the students love Pete the Cat so this book is a hit with them.
Ten Lucky Leprechauns
Ten Lucky Leprechauns is a fun rhyming math book of counting to ten.
Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover
Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover is about the old lady who swallows items to make the perfect rainbow to hide a pot of gold. The students love seeing this familiar character that we have read about over and over.
The Luckiest St.Patrick’s Day Ever
The Luckiest St.Patrick’s Day Ever is a rhyming book about a parade that the leprechauns are marching in. I like to stop on the word that rhymes and have the kids try to read what they think the word is that rhymes, for example, “Timothy Shaunnessy ,handsome and bold, marches along with a big pot of ______? The students would say “gold.” My students like to be active participants.
How to Catch a Leprechaun
How to Catch a Leprechaun is a funny rhyming book about how tough it is to catch a leprechaun. The illustrations in this book are awesome! Students laugh at all the antics of the leprechaun.
The Night Before St.Patrick’s Day
The Night Before St.Patrick’s Day is about how Tim and Maureen stay up and set traps to catch a leprechaun and how they actually catch one. This is the book that I read the day before St.Patrick’s Day.
What Comes Next?
After I read these books, I put my students into groups of 3 to create leprechaun traps. They loved doing this and they did a great job!
