These little Christmas Around the World readers by SOL Train Learning are based on fun songs that we wrote to reinforce our December Word of the Day Calendar. Each reader has comprehension questions in the back of the book. It also comes with teacher guides on how to use the empty boxes on the page. We use them to teach phonics.
All five emergent readers come in color for the teacher to read out loud as you focus on the word of the day. I like to make it into a big book and sing the song as I show the pages of the book and discuss the word of the day. There is also a copy of the lyrics on one page that I like to make into a poster so we can highlight the calendar words. There is a teacher guide with ideas for how to use these books The words in the books are also familiar piggy back songs that you probably know and will be easy for your students to sing. This particular bundle is one song to the tune of “Deck the Halls.” Each verse is a holiday. These are great activities that teach great Christmas Around the World vocabulary!
